BNP PARIBAS Open, Indian Wells is regarded as the best non grand slam tournament.
On Friday (8th March, 2013), the tournament owner Mr. Larry Ellison (co-founder of Oracle) announced that the tournament has decided to go in for another expansion. The expansion is expected to be completed before the 2014 Indian Wells tournament begins. The major highlights of the Indian Wells Tennis Garden expansion includes ::
i) Another Court with 8000 spectators capacity with two spectacular restaurants.
ii) Four More practice courts
iii) Expanded entrance
iv) 19000 Sq Ft shade structure like the one that was built in 2012
v) Another grass parking for up to 2000 car parking.
For doing the ground breaking duty, many dignitaries including Raymond Moore (CEO, BNP PARIBAS Open, Indian Wells), Mayor Mary Roche, Tennis legends Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic, Victoria Azarenka, Ana Ivanovic were present.
