If I hadn't flipped through the channels on that fateful winter night in 2006, I probably wouldn't have known about the greatest tennis player of all time. I probably wouldn't have developed a passion for this sport. I probably wouldn't have picked up a tennis racket. I probably wouldn't have done a lot of things. But thank goodness my parents decided to upgrade our cable package that winter. Thank. Goodness.

As far as sports go, the only one I truly followed at the time was basketball. Naturally, I'd flip through ESPN to see if there were any NBA games on. Obviously that night when I flipped through, there weren't any, so I looked through the schedule for the next few hours. And there it was. The AUSTRALIAN OPEN. Right there in the middle of the night. And who was scheduled to play? None other than the Maestro himself.

Being the curious girl that I was and still am, I decided to stay up and watch the match. I was incredibly amazed at what I saw. The elegance. The beauty. The fluidity. Everything was amazing. I wanted to see more. And boy, did I see more. I started falling in love with tennis. And I started falling in love with Roger Federer.
