Lynette Federer, 60, about her son Roger as a child:
"As soon as he was walking Roger had a strong urge to be moving around", she remembers. "He was already a very activ as a child. He was always on the move with any kind of ball, it was just fascinating for him". And his exceptional talent was early noticed: Little Roger managed both to throw a ball on the target and catch it very well.
About Roger's secret of success:
According to his mother, the recipe is very simple: "Roger is a dedicated tennis player. The game fascinates him", says Lynette Federer. "You just realize that is in his heart and soul and that is the only way he is able to be so successful over all the years".
About her role as a twin grandmother:
Roger's sister Diana also has twins. "A coincidence", says Lynette. "Im so proud and I'll never get bored that for sure. I go out with them a lot, to spend time in the nature and in parks. We visit farms, form figures out of pastilin, we draw or play games. I love to tell them stories." Since Charlene Riva and Myla Rose are on tour with Roger almost all the time, it's not always easy to spend time with the twins. Sometimes Lynette and Robert Federer travel with them. "But not all the time. But if we do wanna see the twins, we have to follow them."
On the exchange within the family:
"When Roger has to make an important decision, Roger brings together his family. "We often discuss and we appreciate this exchange of views", says Lynette. The Federer family is a real family business. Roger's parents take care of the fan mail, and also inquries and payments.
On the protection of privacy:
To find retrat isn't always easy for her famous son, "But he gets along quite well". He choses quiet places for his vacation. And if he's back home in Switzerland he can rest. "Switzerland is pleasant in that matter [for Roger to have quiet time and relax] " says Lynette Federer. People do leave him in peace in Switzerland and there are no homestories about him.
