In a way I am sad that Rafael Nadal has withdrawn, I guess that gruelling match against Djokovic at Roland Garros yesterday has taken its toll and he still has the final against David Ferrer to contend with tomorrow.

On the other hand this tournament should provide an excellent build up to Wimbledon for Roger.  I sincerely hope that he finds his rhythm and keeps hold of it this time around!    ;)

Looks a decent testing draw. I really laugh at people who call draws tough. Having 4 qualifiers in the draw makes it an easy one? Will be a nice tester for Federer to face Janowicz in the QF & Haas/Raonic in the SF will be a good test ahead of probably his toughest slam in the last 10 years.

I call it the toughest slam because even winning Wimbledon won't 100% ensure his Top-4 ranking. After winning his 1st Wimbledon on 6th July, 2003, there hasn't been a single week, when Federer has been ranked outside Top-4.

I agree that the draw throws up some decent challenges for Roger at Halle, ahead of what I feel will be a tough Wimbledon.

The most interesting bit of news has been Federer's decision to play doubles at Halle. That too while teaming up with Tommy Haas! Always exciting to see Federer play doubles as he ventures there so rarely.

That news did come as a bit of a surprise. Am looking forward to seeing Roger and Tommy as a doubles team. Maybe a way of sharpening up Roger's (and Tommy's) game training wise too as doubles can be so quick back & forth, reactions have to be lightening fast.
