Roger Federer and Tommy Haas playing doubles together for the first time in a match dominated by smiles lost to Jurgen Melzer and Philipp Petzschner 6-7(3), 4-6 in the first round at the Gerry Weber Open in Halle.
Federer and Haas decided to play doubles together to get some practice for their singles campaign at Halle & of course, for the upcoming Wimbledon championships, but their opponents (Wimbledon 2012 Doubles champions) clearly were the better team on the day.
Roger Federer for the first time in almost a decade played a match without a bandana and was wearing the same outfit that he had used at French Open, 2013 and Tommy Haas, too was wearing the identical Nike outfit.
This was the first time that Federer and Haas were playing doubles together and the lack of experience was clearly evident as in the first set they both went for a shot and missed the ball.
In spite of that, the match was a fun match and for the first time, Roger Federer was seen smiling after losing the first set tie-breaker.
Federer and Haas both are also playing in the singles and being the No. 1 & No. 3 seeds respectively have received a bye from Round-1.
Also, Mirka Federer and Federer twins were present there to enjoy the doubles action.
