In my opinion, the toughest quarter is the one of nadal/del potro, then the one of roger, then the one of Ferrer/berdych and finally djokovic has the easiest one. First i thought that having a potencially fourth round against tsonga, then Murray and hopefully nadal it would be heavy. Then i realized that there is no easy fourth round match in any grand slam, so i will be cheering for him the entire tournament no matter who is on the other side of the net.

Hey! Thanks for posting this. Rafa looks like he's got the toughest draw & Nole the easiest..to be broad.
Should be fun!

Very challenging draw especially in the top half, wide open in the bottom half. Would be interesting to see, who can make it to the semis. If it goes as per seedings, Federer vs Murray & Djokovic vs Wawrinka will be the matches to watch out for in the Quarters.

Tough draw for Federer... Not an easy one for Nadal either.

An easy walk until the QF for Nole!

Would just love a final Federer-Nole! If that happens, I think Federer will prevail!

I think that mentally, Federer has to be very strong and will be... The game is all there, so it's a matter of fitness, which I think is something that Roger took special care of!

All in all, I am looking forward to the start of the tournament!

Agreed Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer appear to have the tougher draws, though I wonder whether this time around Stan Wawrinka will finally manage to overcome Novak Djokovic ;)

Whatever happens, we know that Roger has certainly worked hard on his physical preparations, lets hope his body can keep his adrenaline levels up when needed, and that he can keep focused and not become anxious or distracted by memories from last year.

It would be like a dream come true if he can win this, but realistically my hope is he makes it to the second week without any 5 set battles, has a good win in the QF, makes it through the SF and after a testing match secures his place in the final! Then it is up to whether his body can recover for what potentially would be another bruising contest.

The very best of luck Maestro!!

Yes, roller coaster time coming up again!  I'm really looking forward to it.  I also hope Roger lasts through to the second week at least, and at the moment I think that's his goal.  The whole tournament loses some interest for me if he goes out early.  but let's not even think about that.  He just has to find his mental toughness and he'll do very well.  And wouldn't it be nice indeed if Stan could get through!

Allez Roger!

Important clarification: Gilles Simon has withdrawn from Australian Open & he will be replaced by a lucky loser.

Seedings will remain the same...

in the morning, many people asked if the probable Monfils vs Nadal match will get changed as Monfils will get a higher seeding.

The answer is No, the proposed Rafa- Monfils R3 match is still on.

Had Monday's order of play not been announced, then all players under Gilles Simon would have got a higher seeding.

I've just read that the temperature in Melbourne is predicted to rise to a high of 41 degrees on Tuesday - which is when Roger will be playing I think.  Just another little obstacle to overcome  :(

Well, if he plays in Rod Laver Arena, it is actually a good news because at such high temperature, they will close the roof which makes it an indoor match which Roger actually loves. :)
