Now, here's a full report card of Roger Federer's past performances at Monte Carlo Open ::
Well, first time Roger Federer played at Monte Carlo was in 1999 & he lost out in 1st Round vs Vincent Spadea 6-7, 0-6 on 18th April, 1999.
Its just one of those three times when Roger Federer has been bagelled by an opponent.
In 2000, Roger Federer again lost in the 1st Round vs Jiri Novak on April 16th, 2000.
Though, in 2000, he reached Semi Finals of the Doubles.
2001 saw the First Victory of Roger Federer in the singles at Monte Carlo & the opponent happened to be Michael Chang.
Roger Federer defeated Michael Chang 6-4, 6-3 on April 15th, 2001. Thou, he lost in the next round.
In 2002, Roger Federer lost to David Nalbandian 2-6, 1-6 on April 16th, 2002 in the 2nd Round.
Roger Federer did not play in the 2003 & 2004 Monte Carlo Open.
In 2005 Monte Carlo Masters ,
Roger Federer in the 4th round played a superb match vs Fernando Gonzalez & won that match 6-2, 6-7, 6-4.

Thou, in the quarterfinal of Monte Carlo Masters 2005, Roger Federer had a heartbreaking loss to Richard Gasquet & lost 7-6(1), 2-6, 6-7(8-10) after having two match points. :-(.
2006 Monte Carlo Masters
In one of matches that come to my mind,
In the 3rd Round , Roger Federer defeated the young teenager Novak Djokovic who was ranked 67th then, 6-3, 2-6, 6-3 .
Roger Federer went on to reach his first Monte Carlo Masters open final in 2006.
His opponent in the final was the formidable defending teenager champion named Rafael Nadal.
Rafael Nadal defeated Roger Federer 6-2, 6-7(2), 6-3, 7-6(5) on 22nd April, 2006 to win his second successive Rolex Monte Carlo Masters.
In 2007 Monte Carlo open,
Roger Federer's most special performance was against the clay court specialist David Ferrer in the quarterfinal. Roger won that match 6-4, 6-0 on 21st April, 2007.
In a rematch of last year's final, again it was Roger Federer vs Rafael nadal final in Monte Carlo open in 2007.
In 2007, it was a best of three final instead of best of five.
On 21st April, 2007 Rafael Nadal defeated Roger Federer 6-4, 6-4 to win his third consecutive Monte Carlo Open.

In 2008 Rolex Monte Carlo Open,
In an outstanding display of some fine Clay court tennis, Roger Federer defeated David Nalbandian in a very tough three setter in the Quarter Final on April 25th, 2008.
In the Semi final, Novak Djokovic withdrew as Roger Federer was leading 3-2 in the 2nd set.
For the third time in as many years, it was Rafael Nadal vs Roger Federer final.
In the 2008 Monte Carlo Open final, once again Rafael Nadal defeated Roger Federer 7-5, 7-5 on April 27th, 2008.
This was Rafael Nadal's fourth consecutive Rolex Monte Carlo open title.
Roger Federer didn't have Monte Carlo Masters in his schedule for 2009, but decided to take the last minute wild card on 9th April, 2009 (just 24 days before the draw was to be declared on 11th April, 2009). In 2009, Monte Carlo was removed from the mandatory ATP 1000 masters category.
2009 Rolex Monte Carlo Open
Roger Federer lost in the 3rd Round to his fellow country man Stanislas Wawrinka 4-6, 5-7 on April 12th, 2009.
While Rafael Nadal recorded his fifth consecutive Monte Carlo Masters title in 2009.
2010 Monte Carlo Masters
Roger Federer didn't play in this year's edition.
While Rafael Nadal recorded his sixth consecutive Monte Carlo Masters title in 2010.
Monte Carlo Masters 2011
Roger Federer unfortunately lost in the Quarter final vs Melger Jurgen 4-6, 4-6 on April 14th, 2011.
While Rafael Nadal recorded his seventh consecutive Monte Carlo Masters title in 2011.
Monte Carlo Masters 2012
Roger Federer withdrew from 2012 Monte Carlo, Rafa Nadal won his 8th successive Monte Carlo Masters by defeating Novak Djokovic.
Monte Carlo Masters 2013
Roger Federer didn't have Monte Carlo 2013 in his schedule & decided against accepting the wildcard for 2013 Monte Carlo Rolex Masters.
