Federer eliminated 92nd-ranked Adrian Ungur of Romania 6-3, 6-2, 6-7 (6), 6-3 Wednesday to break a tie with Jimmy Connors for most career wins at major tournaments in the Open era, which began in 1968.

Here's a rare screen grab taken after Roger Federer 234th slam match win in the 2nd Round of French Open, 2012.

After todays victory, The 16-time Grand Slam champion is now 234-35 in tennis' top four tournaments, an 87% winning percentage.
This is the match statistics of today's match :::

Here are the highlights from the match ------------
As you can see from these statistics, Roger's performance today was much much better than the first round match, where he had a completely off day.
How ever, as was evident, these are the 2 things that Roger needs to work on to have any realistic chance of beating Novak Djokovic & Rafael Nadal in the scheduled semis & final of French Open, 2012.
i) Roger seems to be missing a lot of opportunities especially on the running forehand. Out of these 40 unforced errors that you can see in the chart above, more than 18 were on the forehand. As every one in the Tennis world knows that, for Roger to do well, his forehand & service have to be spot on.
ii) Also, Roger needs to approach the net a bit more often, thou, Roger no doubt has one of the best volleys in the game, but, it seems, he is not 100% confident when it comes to volleying twice or thrice in a point.
I say this because this year, balls are lighter than previous year and for an aggressive short maker like Roger, he needs to ensure that his main USP : The powerful forehand & his serve gets him as much free & cheap points as possible.
Still, as a keen follower of the game, if you ask me, if in 1st Round game, Roger's game was only 20% of his overall efficiency, this 2nd round match was 60% of his overall game.
Hope, he can better that in the coming games.
