As, I explained in my previous post,

Most Important : Please be informed that I am writing this post about 12 hours prior to the start of French Open, 2012 (will keep updating latest info in the follow up comments, so keep reading).

Here is how, the ranking points looked like of the top eight players immediately before the start of French Open, 2012 :::

Posted Image

Since, Roger Federer was a losing finalist of 2011 French Open, so, he stands to lose 1200 points from his 2011 points & gain the points that he will garner during French Open, 2012.

So, here are the different scenarios :

i) If Roger Federer loses the Semi-final of French Open, 2012,

then he loses 1200 points of 2011 & gains 720 points of 2012.

so, net net he will lose out 480 points ........

Roger Federer will climb up to Number. 2 in ATP Rankings if Rafael Nadal loses in the final to Novak Djokovic as Rafa will lose 800 points by virtue of losing in the finals.

Thus, in that case, Roger Federer will be ahead by 50 points from Rafa Nadal ....

ii) If Roger Federer loses the Final of French Open, 2012,

then he loses 1200 points of 2011 & gains 1200 points of 2012.

so, net net, no gain or loss in the ATP ranking points.

How ever, Roger Federer will climb up to Number. 2 in ATP Rankings if Rafael Nadal loses in the semi-final to David Murray.

iii) If Roger Federer wins the Final of French Open, 2012,

then he loses 1200 points of 2011 & gains 2000 points of 2012.

thus, he will have a net gain of 800 points in that case.

Also, if he wins the French Open title, Roger Federer will climb up to World Number. 2 in ATP Rankings.

I think now that Roger has lost in the semis he will loose 480 points and not 600 points , so the good news is if Rafa looses in the finals Roger will become #2 in the world :)

Roger Federer will lose 480 points & its 100% confirmed :)....

as, he will gain 720 points by virtue of 2012 semi-final & lose 1200 by virtue of 2011 French Open's semi-final.

I have just checked ATP rankings , so roger gains 720 points but looses 1200 from last year,, that makes 480 points net loss, i stand corrected,, But it does not matter bcoz Wimbledon takes into account last two years of grass court performance for their seedings, So Rog will be seeded 3 come what may,,

Interesting that Roger will become no. 2 if Djokovic defeats Nadal. But, actually, after seeing Federer fall to Djokovic yesterday, I kinda want Nadal to win it tomorrow. :D

We'll see!

Ha ha, frankly, the thought of Djokovic slam makes me worried too... I really think, that only player who deserved it was Rod Laver & yes, I'll be happy if Rod Laver's record lasts for another 500 years :P.
