As all of you are aware that Wimbledon championships are starting from 25th June, 2012. There is no denying of the fact, that Wimbledon is no doubt the most followed Grand slam of all the four slams.



But, this year, promises to be even more interesting especially from a Top 4 point of view :::








Novak Djokovic will be defending his Wimbledon title & also, he became no. 1 in 2011 by winning the Wimbledon 2011. So, he has to defend not just the title but also, complete one full year at Number. 1.



Rafael Nadal will be trying for his third Wimbledon title & if he manages to win Wimbledon,he has a chance to get to No. 1, also, he will become the first ever man in the history of Tennis to do the "Old World Triple" twice in his career.

Old world triple means winning titles at Rome, Paris & London.


Roger Federer will be trying for his 17th Grand slam & his 7th Wimbedon & a chance to regain No. 1.


Andy Murray too will be trying for his 1st ever Grand slam.




So, this post of mine is to cover all ranking scenarios post Wimbledon 2012, so read on ----



Now, these are the latest ATP ranking points of top 8 as announced on 18th June, 2012 :::







As you all will be aware that points gained during Wimbledon 2011 will be deducted when the ranking points after the Wimbledon 2012 will be announced on July 8th, 2012.


Since Novak Djokovic is the defending champion, his 2000 points will be deducted.


Rafael Nadal was the losing finalist in 2011, so he has to defend his 1200 points,


Roger Federer lost out in Quarter Finals in Wimbledon 2011, so, he just has to defend 360 points,


While Andy Murray has to defend 720 points as he lost out in Semi-finals @ Wimbledon 2011..




So, here are the ranking scenarios for you all post Wimbledon 2012 (covering the TOP 3, as they only have realistic chance of getting to No. 1 post Wimbledon), [continued in the next 3 posts under-neath]...

Novak Djokovic :::




As you can see, Djokovic is 2220 points ahead of Rafael Nadal & about 2720 points ahead of Roger Federer.


Maximum that Rafael Nadal can gain by winning Wimbledon is 800 points.


Also, Roger Federer can gain a maximum of 1440 points by winning Wimbledon 2012.


So, for Djokovic to retain No. 1 under all circumstances, he has to ensure that he reaches the final.


If he reaches the final & even if he loses in the final to Roger Federer, that way, Roger can reduced the points differnce by 2440 points.


Thus, if Novak Djokovic reaches & loses in the semi-final, then for all ranking lovers, the next interesting battle will be the Race for No. 1 & No.2 between Roger & Rafa about which we have been blogging for the last 3 months now .

For Rafa to reach No. 1 immediately after Wimbledon 2012 ------


Rafael Nadal has to win Wimbledon & hope, Novak Djokovic loses on or before the Quarter-finals.



For Rafa to retain World No. 2 Ranking :::


Rafa has to win atleast one (post QF) or 2 rounds (pre QF) more than Roger.

For Roger to regain World No. 2 Ranking :::


Roger has to be equivalent to Rafa (in terms of rounds) or win one round more..


Thus, if Roger reaches finals & Rafa loses in the semi-final, then Roger is assured of No. 2 rankings...

And I would love to see a Federer-Murray (Fedray ) SF. I don't think we've ever seen that at Wimbledon. Imagine the crowd!!

Aah, how great it would have been if Fed could face murray in the semis ... but, unfortunately, it can never be 3 vs 4 in the semis...

The draw will be out 2mo, lets see if Roger gets Rafa or Nole in the semis..

I love RF but the reality is he was virtually a non-factor save the FO upset in semi & that's why he's climbing the rankings....I wouldn't crown anything this year to be his dominance which is what I think says a lot more of the state of his game...compared to the top 2 guys & thus chance to win a 5setter & another slam. It just seems almost not possible, I know it is in my heart but reality is harsh...

I appreciate yr views, but, I still feel, Federer has a few years left in him .
