There are five separate events being contested at London 2012, with Mixed Doubles having now been reinstated to the Olympics as a full medal sport for the first time since Paris 1924.
1) Men's Singles: 64 draw with a maximum of four players from each country (to be chosen by their respective Tennis associations/federations)
2) Women's Singles: 64 draw with a maximum of four players from each country (to be chosen by their respective Tennis associations/federations)
3) Men's Doubles: 32 draw with maximum of two pairs from each country, and both players in each pair must be from the same country (to be chosen by their respective Tennis associations/federations)
4) Women's Doubles: 32 draw with maximum of two pairs from each country, and both players in each pair must be from the same country (to be chosen by their respective Tennis associations/federations)
5) Mixed Doubles: 16 draw with maximum of two pairs from each country, and both players in each pair must be from the same country, and must already be playing in the singles and/or doubles events (to be chosen by their respective Tennis associations/federations)
Breakdown of entries
Men's / Women's Singles
- 56 Direct Acceptances, based on world rankings as of 11 June 2012
- 6 Final Qualification Places (ITF Places)
- 2 Tripartite Commission Invitation Places
Men's / Women's Doubles
- 24 Direct Acceptances, based on world rankings as of 11 June 2012
- 8 Final Qualification Places (ITF Places)
Mixed Doubles
- 12 Direct Acceptances, based on world rankings as of 11 June 2012
- 4 Final Qualification Places (ITF Places)...

Also, importantly as circulated by ITF :::::
Players are eligible to compete in the Olympic Tennis Event provided they are in good standing with their National Association and the International Tennis Federation (ITF).
They must also have made themselves available for selection to represent their country in Davis Cup or Fed Cup for two of the following years - 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012 - provided one of those years is 2011 or 2012.
Players are eligible to compete in the Olympic Tennis Event provided they are in good standing with their National Association and the International Tennis Federation (ITF).
