Earlier than planned, Kim Clijsters finished her career this night, when lost a dramatic match in the second round of the U.S. Open Championship by the British 19-year-old Laura Robson,6_7, 6_7. The Belgian won this tournament in 2005, retired from tennis, and when she back to play ,Kim won it in 2009 and 2010,she did not play much last year, and she announced that this is her last tournament, but Kim certainly did not plan to leave already after the second round.

"This is the perfect place for me to retire, but I hoped it wouldn't be today, the Belgian said, that return now to be a mother does not work as she planned. During the farewell interview on the court joined her daughter Jada.

"Since I retired in the first time this is a big adventure for me, for staff and family and everything it was worth, I am waiting for the next challenge in my life"

By the way, Clijsters ended the career of singles, but still scheduled to play women's doubles and mixed

Every good bye is tough in life & even Kim clijsters retirement would have been tough for her & her family. But, I am quite sure, she achieved a lot. Who can forget her winning the US Open, 2009 in her come-back year.

Who can ever forget this amazing pic of Kim clijsters & her daughter Jada at US Open, 2009 :)

Clisjters daughter.jpg

"It's been an incredible journey, and a lot of dreams for me have come true because of tennis," Clijsters said.

"As a little girl, I got Christmas racquets under the tree and outfits of Steffi Graf and Monica Seles, and I would want to wear them to bed.

"I was so excited. So for me to have been able to have been a part of women's tennis, and on top of women's tennis for so many years - you don't think about it when you're in it; you're kind of on automatic pilot.

"Now that I think about it, it's been a crazy rollercoaster at times, as well."

Well, talking of Tennis retirements, I still remember Andre Agassi's fare-well match at US Open in 2006 played on 3rd September, frankly, my heart still doesn't accept that Agassi has retired till now :). This is how big a fan I'm of Agassi :).

Wonder, how one of the biggest fans of Kim Clijsters EilisBrennan is feeling at the moment.

Yeps, feels sad to see a great champ bid adieu with a loss. But, as they say, no one can stay at one place for ever, thou, yes, there was a time in Kim clijsters' career when she was labelled as a choker as she lost so many finals during 2004-07.

& after her post-retirement peRFormances, I am sure, she won't be remembered as a choker. Wishing her a happy retired life.

For sure, Clijsters had a great career. She looked quite relaxed & satisfied in her last press conference. All the best to her for future.

Excellent tributary video. Couldn't stop laughing after hearing Rafa's comments on Kim clijsters :).

Just now, Rafa Nadal posted on his official site & I quote,

A great friend Kim Clijsters leaves the circuit today and give her racket a rest. Kim Clijsters I wish you well for future !!

It was interesting to hear what Kim Clijsters said about Roger Federer in her last press conference as a player,

: "Roger Federer is someone amazing. When you talk to him, he is always polite.

It is in his head. Which does not mean he was never nervous or he never plays badly, but he knows how to manage .

I am lucky to know him from the juniors. he remained the same. Maybe he was a little crazy at the time, but he was a guy turns nice and funny. he likes to joke.

This has not changed. has been No. 1, won so many Grand Slams, so beat records, and he is always trying to help, take pictures ...

I think this is something incredible. I will miss him."

I for sure will remember Kim Clijsters not just because of her game, but also because of her ability to keep laughing & giggling just like Roger Federer....

Here is a collection of three pics of laughing Roger Federer & Kim Clijsters taken during US Open Kids day & the Hit for Haiti during Australian Open,

It's sad to hear about the retirement of players and not any players, this is what i hate in the sport, the retirement. When a player retires i feel very sad and foil even if I do not like him. After he achieved success and fame,in a moment we do not see him any more in the stadiums and on television....i don't know but it's makes me very sadness and cry.

indeed, i told my family and my friends that when Roger Federer retire, please do not tell me this,I do not want to hear it, and just let me know the news gradually.

When life gives you a hundred reasons to cry, show life that you have a Roger Federer to smile.

Thanks Kishore :)

& This is what Roger Federer had to say about Kim Clijsters & her retirement :::::::::

What are your thoughts on Kim's retirement and what did she mean to you on a personal level and as a player?

Roger Federer:

Yeah, same thing. Kim and I go way back. God, I remember in the juniors, under‑16, under‑14 maybe even. She's only a couple years younger, but as a girl you make it earlier.

Yeah, we went through a lot at the same time. So I was very sad, really surprised when she retired the first time around, so happy when she came back actually. The way she came back and, bang, she won the US Open.

She had a daughter. Now I can so much relate to her. I guess it's easier to be a guy on tour. We can have kids while we're still playing. For the girls it's a bit more complicated. But I think she's also totally at peace. She looks happy. Almost relieved to a degree.

That's kind of how I see it right now. But what a great champion. She always had time for me as well. It goes without saying that we like each other, we always enjoyed to see each other. I always liked to follow her. She was a great athlete, great player, always friendly.

Yeah, I'm happy she never turned bad just for success. She always stayed true to her character. That's really what I enjoy in particular about Kim, as well.
