As Federer stated in his press conference, this probably was one of the best matches of his career.

His serving was immaculate, his baseline play was ferocious, his returns were crispy and his net play was Godly.

1st Set

Andy Murray won the toss and decided to receive and had a break-point in the opening game. That was actually the only break-point that Federer faced throughout the match.

There were no break of serves for the first 11 games. Federer got two break points in the 12th game, he converted his 2nd set point to win the 1st set 7-5.

The Swiss maestro kept on winning his service games comfortably, while Murray looked in problem as Federer consistently pressurised Murray's service.

Federer had 5 break points (set points) in the 10th game, which perhaps was the most dramatic game of the match. Murray managed to hold on in a game which lasted 15 minutes.

But, Federer managed to break Murray's service in the 12th game to win the 2nd set 7-5.

Federer will play Gilles Simon in the quarter-finals on Wednesday.

Federer was flaw-less through out the match. His movement, net play, serve was A plus. The Spaniard looked competitive only for the first four games.

The Swiss maestro broke Roberto's service in the 5th and 7th game to comfortably win the first set 6-2 in just 19 minutes. The second set was no different, Federer got the early break and comfortably closed out the 2nd set 6-2.

One break was enough in the third set as Federer wrapped up the set 6-3.

Federer during the course of the 5th game of the third set (his 3rd service game of the 3rd set) completed a rare feat of having won 100 consecutive service games. 1st Set

Seppi started from where he left in that Australian Open 3rd round match. He was very agressive and even had 2 set-points in the 10th game but the Swiss maestro saved those with two aces. Seppi's service too was top notch and he didn't face a single break point in the entire 1st set.

Federer's 1st service came to his rescue when ever he was in slight trouble. Federer was flaw-less once again in the tie-breaker. He won the Tie-breaker 7-1. This was his 6th successful at this year's Gerry Weber Open.

Overall, this was Federer's 26th successful tie-breaker (out of 35 Tie-Breaker played) since he turned 33 on August 8th, 2014.

& this was his 38th successful tie-breaker out of the total of 64 TB's that he has played in 130 finals so far.

2nd Set

As these stats clearly show you, Federer wins almost 87% of the finals after winning the 1st set. Federer played a much better 2nd set. Seppi though was very competitive for the first 7 games. He saved three break points in the 8th game. But, relentless pressure from Federer & the pressure of serving to stay in the match was too much as Federer ended the match with an overhead smash to clinch his 8th title at Halle, 86th career singles title.
